  3. Non-point balls include rubber balls (toys), glass globes on light fixtures, pumpkins and oranamental cannon balls, or any shiny oblong object on display.
  4. In order for a ball to be point eligible it must be displayed on a stand specifically designed for the ball. These stands are typically makde of iron, ceramic material, or cement. A wood stand will be accepted if it is man made. Lawn ball hanging in trees do not count for points.

Playing the Game

  1. Due to the distance between lawn balls, Lawnball is best played in an automobile or any type of passenger vehicle. It can however be played on foot as long as all the players stay in a group and do not wander more than thirty (30') feet from the other players.
  2. The number of lawnballers is limited to the number of people in one vehicle or walking group. You cannot have a lawn ball match in multiple vehicles. If you have multiple vehicles each vehicle counts as a single match as long as there is two (2) or more lawnballers in the vehicle. You ust have at least 2 lawnballers to play lawnball.
  3. In order to score lawnballers must say "lawn ball." No other utterance counts. The lawnballer must stay "lawn ball" when they spot a qualifying lawn ball.
  4. if a lawnballer knows the placement of a lawn ball he/she cannot call said lawn ball until it is in sight.
  5. A lwanballer can call a lawn ball on either side of the road, highway, street, lane or court. They are not limited to the lawn balls on the side of the street that corresponds to the side of the vehicle they are traveling in.
  6. If a lawnballer calls a false ball or a non-point qualifying ball they will be issued a warning. If the same lawnballer calls a second false or non-point qualifying ball a point will be deducted for each additional occourance.
  7. If two lawnballers call a lawn ball simultaneously a coin flip will determine the lawnballer that will receive the point. If three or more lawnballers call a lawn ball simultaneously a Rock, Paper, Scissors match will be held to determine which laenballer will receive the point.
  8. The length of a match can vary based on the circumstance of travel. If you are playing on a trip that takes an hour or more to reach a destination the match will last the length of the travel. The match will not reset after bathroom, sight seeing, or restaurant stops. In addition, if the travel destination is more than one days travel time the match will end at 12:00 midnight in the time zone that you are currently in, and a new match will begin. If you are traveling short distances (under an hour of travel time in one direction) the match will last until you have returned to the location of origin or a lawnballer is dropped off at a different location. In the later case the match can continue as long as there are at least two (2) lawnballers in the vehicle. The points of the lawnballer who was dropped off DO NOT transfer to other players in the vehicle or group.

Points and Score Cards

  1. One (1) point for every lawn ball three (3') feet to eight (8") inches in diameter.
  2. Five (5) points for the lawn balls greater than three (3') feet in diameter.
  3. The suggested system for scoring is to use the tick method. (see example) It is suggested that all lawnballers keep their own core card and the cards are compared at the end of the match. This keeps less than ethical lawnballers from adding to their score or subtracting from other players scores. Lawnballers adhere to a strict honor system much like golf.
